(1) Il Fabbroni, a quanto ne viene scritto da Pisa, non v’ebbe altra parte che nella spesa. Il primo tomo fu volgarizzato dal Gonnella. Gli altri tomi, dal 2 al 10, ebbero il professore Foggi per traduttore. La versione Pisana conduce l’Istoria del Gibbon sino alla disgrazia di Belisario.
(2) Il traduttore Pisano ha seguito la prima edizione di Londra, che fu poscia riveduta ed accresciuta dall’Autore come egli stesso ne avverte:
